this bird only has one leg!
so i’m walking at harbord and bathurst when i see this bird just sitting on the newspaper box outside the convenience store.
normally, birds scatter when humans get close to them. this bird saw me, and kept his eye on me the entire time, but didn’t fly away. that made me curious so as i got closer, i realized why.
it only had one leg. POOR POOKIE!!! awww! sad!
i was wondering why he didn’t fly away, but surely, only having one leg would make it harder for a bird to fly. Don’t both legs add to its centre of balance?
city birds have it rough. if they’re not smacking into highrise buildings during their seasonal migration, or if they’re not choking & dying from eating all the discarded chewing gum we spit out on the sidewalk…. they’re losing legs from our psycho drivers.
have a care for the animals we share this city with, people …. be kind to raccoons, foxes, rabbits, and birds.
they were here first.
