Art, like morality, consists of drawing the line somewhere

Space Invader in Bonn, Germany

We had found online photographs of about 7 or 8 Space Invaders in Bonn, but when we arrived last week, only ONE remained, the rest having been removed or taken down. DON’T THEY KNOW WHO ‘VADER IS?!

All these photos (and GIFs) are by LET, copyright remains with him. When I found this one and only Vader, I did a little moonwalk dance down the street. I’m too much Estima for these Germans to take.

And then I flew off the bridge and into the sky.

Check out my Space Invader category for all of his work that I’ve photographed around the world!

Bonn jour

dancing in bonn

We went to Bonn, the former capital of Germany and birthplace of Beethoven. Perfect place to dance off the walls.

Don’t forget to take the time to dance today, munchkins.

Neighbourhood Watch

Found these in Dusseldorf.

Not sure who the artist behind them might be, but they are awfully similar to the work of Clet Abraham. Speaking of whom, I found some more of Clet’s stuff in London a few months ago:

Sorry for the grainy Blackberry pics but, you know, sometimes I forget the camera at home. This was just north of Oxford Street on a parallel street.

Sigh. Blackberry is shit.

Check out my Clet Abraham category.

Overlooking Baden-Baden

The WaldMenschen of Freiburg (Tree People)

As we cycled through Freiburg’s vineyards, up hilly expanses, and down past antiquated villas, we ended up finding the Waldmenschen, or the “tree people,” where an artist took really old trees that had been felled and turned them into mythical characters, demons, lords, gods, saints and keepers of the people. It was a lovely trek through the forests to try and find more of these tree people (and we did some planking, of course).

Freiburg Street Art

All photos by LET, copyright remains with him.

I think this one is my favourite.

ha ha ha

Freiburg was one of my favourite cities in Germany to visit. They have such a beautiful landscape, rolling mountains, lush vineyards, and a gorgeous medieval town centre. They have a hotel there that’s 900 years old. Highly recommended place to visit if you’re in the south of Germany!

Cycling through Freiburg

Whilst in Freiburg, in the south of Germany, we cycled through narrow roads, small villages, green reserves, up mountains, through vineyards (as seen here), past villas, down S turns, and through the ancient city with a hotel that dates back to the 1200′s. Freiburg was pretty sweet.

STOP MAKING ME LAUGH, DAMMIT. it’s my kryptonite.

oh yeah, see the sumptuous ornate historical village behind us? YOO-ROPE, bitches.

Space Invader in Switzerland

In Basel, we got a little giddy at this find. Case in point, LET gone bonkers.

This was across the street, but we’re not sure if it’s a real Vader.

But nonetheless, SPACE INVADERRRRRRRRRRR!

Where’s Waldo

He’s like space invader, just not as good.
SHUT UP BENDER.

Betty Boop’s just doing the doo when you are through, and there’s nothing you can do with Betty Boop.

The Great Ferris Wheel of Nancy

We rode on this Ferris Wheel one night in Nancy, France, and I still haven’t recovered. I love Ferris Wheels but I’m afraid of heights!

We’re too high, lemme off. I’m asking you nicely.

This is me, making nice.

THIS IS ME FREAKING OUT.

LOOK AT MY STUPID FACE.

STOP LAUGHING YOU GUYS.

Phewf. Glad that’s over.

L.E.T. : Les Enfants Terribles

These LET pieces were all found around Dusseldorf… I’ve blogged LET’s work before, a mural of a child I found in Cologne (I will never say what you want to hear). LET is bringing the house down.

Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off

I last time I visited Postman’s Park in London was way back in 2007 when I was living there… London, not the park.

What an interesting time in my life that was.

Yet, what an interesting time of my life now this is.

I am so afraid of losing you

Found in Basel, Switzerland :)

Away we go

We went backpacking across Europe recently (Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Germany) and only got up to three important things:

#1: Planking!

Everyone knows I have a history of planking (see more examples here, here, here, and here) … it’s my thang.

Planking on the stairway to heaven. MMMMM, Sacri-licious.

Swans!

#2: Statue Fuckery!

#3: And Most of All, Taking Really Awkward Photos of Me When I Wasn’t Ready!

PS…

GOATS!

Never stop travelling, my delicious munchkins, even if it’s only across your backyard with a very light carry-on.

Soon I’ll be posting some of the graffiti and street art we found on our journey :) Watch this space!

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all

20130303-132322.jpg
I left Canada six months ago without a return ticket, not knowing where life would take me. I have been living out of a backpack, rationing food, sleeping on buses and railway station benches. I have written, I have photographed, I have filmed, I have run, I have swam, I have danced all night, I have cycled, I have froze, I have bronzed, I have planked, I have made 13 different countries know my name, I have coughed up blood and screamed til I was hoarse… After a very sad September, I just wanted to feel the Earth moving before my eyes again, carrying me with it to some unknown destination.

Today I move from London UK to Cologne Germany for the beginning of another great journey…

The SituAsian: Thailand & Cambodia 2012 (video)

Check out this fun short film I made about my adventures this past October and November through Thailand & Cambodia! I call it the “SituAsian” (see what I did there?) and it’s a fun little romp through Asia as I experienced it. Places visited include Bangkok, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Pai, Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, the Full Moon Party, Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, Siem Reap and Angkor Wat. Also, there are a few shots of street art and graffiti from New York City and London before and after the trip. See if you can spot the Banksy’s and the Hanksy! Enjoy!

The Best of Cologne

Street artist XXXhibition puts these amazing tiles down on the sidewalk, and you can find them throughout Cologne

This is a bit much, but still nicely done.

The bomb has legs.

Oy! Don’t talk junk!

Ewoks! YUB NUB! YUB NUB!

Okay, more Star Wars imagery? At least this one is funny.

This stencil says Capitalism, but the dude did the stencil backwards. Still, you get the message.

I think this one is my favourite. It is the most provocative and potent.

Work. Consume. Die. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
