so i’m walking along bellvue near college street, across from the firehall, and i saw this out of the corner of my eye. i almost walked right by it! time for further inspection.

cool! a stencil of hands! at first i thought it might be sign language, but upon further inspection …

IT’S SHADOW PUPPETS! that’s a wolf or a fox or a jackal or something. wicked cool.

 
then a little bit west on college in an alley, more fun with hands! there was this massive piece – it’s an old-timey hand icon thingy that they used to put on elixir labels in pharmacies and advertisements in newspapers …. i’m drawing on memory here, considering i’m sickly-old.

i really like this piece because not only is it emotive and delicately done, but it’s rare to find street art that reminds you how AWESOME and lovely animals are.

if you’ve been paying attention around town, you’d have noticed that the Fedora Upside Down sticker is on every single lamp post, phone booth, street sign, and traffic light. i never photographed it because my familiarity with it bred a disinterest. also, i wasn’t really sure if i liked it or not. the sticker is literally just the hat and the saying. but i found this full-bodied wheatpaste near dundas west and denison and now i have an affection for it.

sorry for the bad angle, there was a pickup truck parked right in front of it that i had to lean against to get a somewhat good shot and lighting. STUPID HORSELESS CARRIAGES.

i found this huge heart painted on the side of a house near dundas west and bathurst. looks like the green break was added by someone else afterwards. i was about to jog on when i looked down and found a stencil underneath this massive heart.

it’s very small and, as you can see, very badly damaged. which makes me think that it’s probably been there for a few years. yay long-lasting street art!

too bad i can’t exactly make out what the image is depicting. are those balloons the dude-with-wings is trying to pull down? or are they other people? is that a tree?

looking at the style of piece, i think the artist is probably the same person behind this mural on queen street west that i photographed last year.

next to it was this stencil, also badly damaged, but i think that says TOWANAH, which is how someone might pronounce TORONTO if they had a speech impediment.

that looks like a tomato and a railroad track.

remember last month when i blogged about revisiting the construction panelling at shaw & argyle? some new stuff has gone up there, most notably, some new ANSER‘s! (oh and i ran into Rob whilst there! he’s my biggest stalker. I SEE YOU IN THE BUSHES!)

I had to stand in the middle of the street to get this shot. Traffic dodger, graffiti hunter, heart breaker. That’s me.

hey Anser, can you do one of me? I’ve never had anyone draw my face before.

in an alleyway in kensington market, i found what looks like an Anser scratching. don’t look t the blue, look at the white chalk…. looks like an Anser blueprint before execution.

more in Kensington market, these were up on a roof. Anser would have had to have spraypainted these from the opposing roof.

are they conjoined twins? DOST MY EYES DECEIVE ME?

and another on the opposite wall. either she’s Rudolph, or she hab a cowd in her nobe.

omg they’ve resurrected spudbomb.com! that website went defunct YEARS ago (i should know, i’ve been checking) but now that SPUD has been bombing the city like mad lately, and has an upcoming gallery show (guess who’s been invited? DIS GAL!), i guess he felt it was time to bring back the ol’ spudbomb! expect more blog posts about Spud soon, i have so many photos of his stuff to share!
