Uber 5000

remember when rob and i went graffiti hunting through graffiti alley last year? we found a wheatpaste with the tag “simple” next to it. i haven’t found another wheatpaste like it since…. until now.

i found this outside Java House on Queen Street West (or as I like to call it “Java the Hutt”). this is by artist Uber 5000 who is responsible for some of the most popular murals in Toronto.

i don’t know if Uber 500 is the “simple” guy, but the two wheatpastes are awfully similar and seem to employ the same style. no way to be 100% sure really.

many of you are probably familiar with Uber 5000’s work and don’t even know it.

every Toronto graffiti 101 photographer/blogger/enthusiast starts with a stroll down graffiti alley, taking photos, inevitably, of this wall:

i took this photo over a year ago with my blackberry, but the mural is still there.

this is Uber’s work.
