The Triumph of David


In 1630, Nicholas Poussin painted The Triumph of David, and in 2013, Phlegm did too.

I love how Phlegm focusses his piece on one specific aspect of Poussin’s painting. I would have to agree that the trumpeter is the most interesting detail of the piece.

Of course, Phlegm adds his own style and form to the piece, which takes it from classical to a haunting, dream-like realm.

Look at the detailing on his tunic and on the trumpet.
